To make the most of the ongoing tropical fish event (in case you weren’t aware, all tropical fish spawning are randomized until the end of the month), I came up with another one based on a fun collection I made last year.
Because the first version of the event has been beaten so fast already, I came up with a different set of rules.
Rules
- Until the end of the event on 1 july 0:00 GMT, your goal is to collect as many sets of full colour fish as you can. A set of fish consists of single colour fish with all the colours available: black, gray, light gray, white, pink, red, brown, orange, yellow, lime, green, cyan, light blue, blue, purple, magenta.
- A set is complete only if it has all 16 colours.
- Each fish must be a full colour, that is, both the body and the pattern colour is identical. In a bucket, the fish will appear like this:
- There can be no duplicate fish. For example, you cannot have two Blue Dasher fish.
- Black Tangs and Yellow Tangs do count. These are Gray Flopper and Yellow Flopper, specifically.
- The fish must be caught during the duration of the event. Fish caught before the event do not count.
- Fish that were released from a bucket or a trap after this post will not count towards the event. All fish caught must originate from natural spawns in oceans or caves.
- Every fish caught must be “wild”: that is, it wasn’t released from a bucket previously.
- Each player must catch their own fish. You cannot cooperate towards a single pool of fish.
- Each fish must be caught either in a bucket, either in a trap.
- At the end of the event, post here the location with the container that has your fish sets. It can be inside your inventory or /chest. After that, I will check the logs to confirm that all fish were caught properly, during the event.
The event will start on 16 june 0:00 GMT and will end on 6 july 0:00 GMT. It will start in roughly 3 hours from when this is posted, and ends in two weeks. As I said before, any fish caught before or after this time period will not count.
Reward
The original reward of one tropical fish spawner has already been claimed. Because this version of the event requires you to take part throughout the whole duration of the event, the rewards have been changed such that, each set completed will unlock specific rewards:
- Set 1: Fishing Rod with Notebook - a fishing rod that keeps tally of your catches with it.
- Set 2: Low Quality Bait - makes fish bite faster than usual, has a 50% chance to be consumed.
- Set 3: Flippers - gives you Dolphin’s Grace and Slowness.
- Set 4: Bait - makes fish bite even faster than when using the low quality version, has a 10% chance to be consumed.
- Set 5: Diving Helmet - allows you to breathe underwater indefinitely.
- Set 6: High Quality Bait - same increase in fish bite speed like the Bait, but has a 2% chance to be consumed.
- Set 7: Advanced Flippers - gives you Dolphin’s Grace.
- Set 8 and onwards: Bundle of Holding - holds virtually an infinite amount of a specific item.
On top of these rewards, the person who has collected the most sets at the end of the event will also receive a tropical fish spawner, along with the rewards obtained from the sets.
Good luck, and I hope you have enough buckets!
21 june update
Here’s a small update, since a few of you are already getting close to collecting all 12 sets possible. If you would like a challenge, and some extra rewards, here’s an optional task you could do:
- Once you collect all 12 sets of full colour fish, you are tasked to collect sets of mixed fish with the format colour-x type. That is, if you sort all the fish in chests by type and body colour, you are to complete one of these chests. If you choose, for example, blue dasher, you’d need to collect all blue-x dashers. The full colour fish from the 12 sets do count, you don’t need to collect them twice.
- No duplicated fish are allowed.
- You choose what sets you collect.
- The fish of these sets only count if you collected them starting on 21 june, at 0:00 GMT, roughly an hour earlier from this update.
This is meant as an extra optional challenge for those who have already collected the 12 full colour sets. If you do not have these sets collected by the end of the event, the mixed colour sets will not count. If you’re feeling confident, you can try collect the extra sets before you finish the 12 main ones.
The mixed colour sets also won’t count for the tropical fish spawner reward. Everyone who managed to collect all the 12 full colour sets will get a tropical fish spawner. The reward for each of these extra sets is a nether star trap.
1 july update
I extended the deadline until the end of this week, on 6 july at 0:00 GMT.
