Is it now? Was this a tempban that didn’t end when it should’ve? As far as everyone’s concerned, you’re no longer welcome on the server, since it’s a permanent ban. Whatever rights you might have on the server going forward from it are entirely up to us to decide, including appealing your ban. I could’ve easily told you to not bother appealing, and at any moment I can decide to deny the appeal. And I’m sure you don’t want me to rush with this since, well, you’ve done enough over time to become rather unpopular, and the obvious response would be to deny the appeal, but against better judgement I decided to give you a chance. I suggest you don’t mess it up.

Now regarding your post:

  1. Updates on rate changes - I used to do these occasionally, though it was never a rule. The fact that rates are somewhat volatile at times makes for confusing announcements. I’ve also realised recently that it’s better to just not announce these. On one hand you have the drama that comes from that, as people feel entitled to the exploits they discover. Then, people also change their behaviour following the announcements, so further changing the rates to balance around said behaviour would be more difficult. Though well, the system is evolving over time.
  2. Staff availability - this is an interesting one, I suppose there could be some improvements here. Though it’s important to keep in mind that everyone’s doing this for free, in their free time, and some things are just easier to deal with than others. We’re not getting paid to work on the server or something.
  3. Check and balances for staff - these are a thing already, and always have been. Major decisions generally need greenlighted by ibu at least and are subject to discussions. For general playing we have limits to what we can do, and a lot of things have to remain within our factions (which is also why they’re permanent). Negative actions against players are either official punishments following rule breaking and such, either have to be undone. If I kill someone by mistake, I have to restore whatever was lost. Staff trolling and such is not meant to be permanent. As for your particular example, we never took over a faction, and there’s no reason why we’d even do that. In fact, the only people to have ever taken over other factions (as far as I’m aware) are your friends from Vanguard. Perhaps you have better examples.
  4. Staff politeness - this is a fairly obvious thing to strive towards, and we as a team do try to keep things civil. It’s important to remember that at the end of the day, we’re still humans, and players often love to test our patience.
  5. Listening to input - now this one is rather unfair, both in the way it’s prefaced, and in its design. We can’t do everything that’s asked or suggested by players. There are priorities, and there is day to day life that we have, which includes studies and jobs. Some suggestions are very complex to implement, while others are not that high of a priority compared to other things we have to do. Some aren’t something we should do at all. The reason why we don’t implement something is never because of who suggested it. As for “listen to everyone or no one at all”, I don’t think that’s something really great. A lot of people suggest things that aren’t great, and I don’t think we shouldn’t take other suggestions that are good simply because of those.

Is there anything else you’d like to add?

Well, I would like to add that I apologize for my words and actions. thank you for your clarification on the concerns I had, I understand the reasoning behind the decisions, and I appreciate the explanations. I will be more understanding of the challenges and respect the guidelines moving forward and if I have any future concerns I will take it up the correct way by talking to or asking you or someone of the staff so you can point me in the right direction on where or who to ask and i will take your feedback seriously and if given another opportunity, I’ll make sure not to repeat my mistakes.

Ok, next part of the appeal as I mentioned above, tell me about what game features you don’t quite understand and for which you came with your own explanation (mobhead droprates, mob spawning etc.), and I’ll do my best to explain how they work, within reasonable limits (no explaining how we catch ban evaders and stuff like that :P).

Okay, So my question is: What gives the staff the right to change the Minecart drop rate in the mines, per player? For example: 12 hours of mining to get a chance at a common Minecart, and it’s 24 hours of mining for a chance to get a rare Minecart, And you might not even get a Minecart. How is this fair to new players; when these drop rates discourage them from trying? (For reference, that’s not my calculations, these are the staff’s)
Thank you, that is all.

The fact that we made them and are the only ones maintaining the whole thing. If it’s not us who are to change drop rates and stuff, who would be?

That’s not a thing. All droprates of any kind are global. The only thing from a player that might influence them is the presence of looting, and that only works for specific stuff, mobheads and some of my events. I don’t know of any drop rate, vanilla or from our plugin, that differs from player to player.

Is that what you still assumed, that we make droprates be different for specific players?

In time you’ll learn that a lot of stuff I add is not meant to be farmed by a single player. This includes but is not limited to the minecarts in mines world, as well as the mobheads. Sure, it is technically doable, I didn’t add anything to prevent someone from getting stuff on their own, but it will take a lot of effort. The idea behind this was to give players reasons to cooperate and trade, make these items have value, rather than be something everyone has.

An addendum about the minecarts, I will at some point increase their droprates so they’ll be somewhat easier to get. Their current implementation was added on a whim, something quick and fun based on what TE had. There’s more work that should be done for them.

Anything else you’d want to ask about?
